My 12 year old told me in January that she had been sexually assaulted from ages 10-11 by her uncle. The police report was immediately filed but the investigation is taking some time. She started therapy with an adolescent psychologist twice a month.She talks all the time about depression and suicide. I have read her text messages because she tells me she's fine but she tells her friend she wants to kill herself and cut herself. Every day, it's all she talks about in text.Psychologist gives coping skills and we try them but it doesn't help.Her academics are suffering because she can't handle it.Is it time to ask for medication?What antidepressants are approved for this age that I can research?Has anybody here had experience with antidepressants at a young age that you will be willing to share pros and cons about?Thank you in advance. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2DZx4jB
