My two and a half year old is in a phase of hitting everyone for any and every reason. His toys not working? Runs over and hits. We’re singing songs with him? Runs over and hits us. Trying to figure out the best way to correct the behavior. He doesn’t talk- other than the occasional dada and signing for “all done” and “more” but he definitely understands us when we speak to him.We’ve tried telling him “no” sternly and telling him not to hit, that he needs to be nice. But it’s had zero affect on him. We’ve tried redirection but that really hasn’t seemed to help at all. Time out is also a joke to him. We don’t believe spanking is an option because it would be counterproductive.We’re out of ideas.
