If the parents aren’t happy in a marriage but are still civil with one another, what are your thoughts on “staying together for the kids?”

X posted from another group. Was looking for others who may have experience with this topic.History: s/o and I are pretty miserable together but neither wants to be without our kids. It’s heartbreaking to think of our kiddos without one of us constantly. My s/o hasn’t been around much bc of his job and choices he’s made with his career. He travels a lot and eventually if we split, he’ll have to move from our kids. Thoughts on staying so they can have their dad who isn’t around much anyways? Stay so we can both experience milestones?
