Sleeping Help For Two Toddlers

So I have two toddlers, 1.5 and 2.5 years old (367 days apart), girl and boy respectively. The older brother has been a reliable sleeper since he was one. But recently he's starting to get up super early and I'm not sure what to do. The 1.5 year old also is not sleeping through the night. I know we have a bad sleep routine, but not sure how to break it and could use some ideas. Both have very strong bed time routines we almost never break. The younger sister starts her routine 7-7:15pm, the older brother 7:30-7:45. Bath every other night, two books, two songs. We lay both down wide awake. They both go to sleep fine. The older one has never really slept in, usually up around 6ish. But in the last month, he's getting up much earlier, we're hearing him around 4:20. Banging feet, singing or talking, sometimes shouting for attention. We've tried letting him go but he doesn't go back to sleep, he's up. He takes one nap around 11, which can go 2-3 hours. So I think he's getting enough sleep. But these early mornings are really rough. The younger one is just in a bad routine. She was a premie, so I know we make excuses to keep babying her. She briefly was sleeping through the night around 11 months, but got a bad cold and since then, she's up virtually every night anywhere from 1-2:30am. She starts by moaning, and if we let her go, she doesn't fall back asleep, and eventually escalates to a cry, then almost hysterical screaming. We tried letting her go with that a few times, but eventually older brother woke up and we caved. But right now me or my wife is up in a chair with her every night. What's the answer? Just let her go and accept that we're going to have some really awful nights? My wife and I are really feeling a lot of stress without normal sleep, and feel like there are no answers. Any thoughts would be appreciated. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2Sucsem
