[Meta] What's with all the locked posts?

A lot of the highly up voted posts here get their comments locked. Quickly - many with less than like 40 or 50 comments. When I scroll through there aren't even any really terrible opinions or anything.Current example is there's a post on the front page about hating shirts they say "can't date" for girls or "ladies man" for boys. I had an opinion I wanted to weigh in with but couldn't because it's locked with like 50 circlejerking comments. One post removed. Why is this sub so aggressive with the lock feature and why is there no reason stated for the lock? I get time impression it happens when too many people state an opinion that goes against the majority - even if not expressed rudely.Anyone able to weigh in? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2QrRBp8
