2.5 yrold won’t sleep at night! Is this somewhat normal?

Hello. My wife and I co-sleep with our 2.5 year old. We have agreed on moving her to her own bed in the summer, as we will have more time and less worry about losing sleep due to our work schedule. We’ve hit a rather rough patch about 3 weeks ago. Our daughter has stopped sleeping through the night. She now wakes up approximately every two hours and cries, sometimes to the point where she will have a full blown tantrum, each and every time! Each tantrum she has can range in between 40 minutes to well over an hour! It’s utterly exhausting! Nothing has changed during the day as far as naps go. She still gets around a one hour nap. We head to bed at 6pm and make sure she is asleep by 7 (we’re up at 4am for work). She will then wake up at around 9/9:30 crying and usually devolves into a full blown tantrum. She has done this in the past, albeit she would only wake once a night, and we would ignore her. Eventually that worked and her night time tantrums lessened until they stopped completely. But now, it’s roughly every 2-3 hours she wakes up like this, like clockwork. My wife and I are shadows of our former selves. We both have been operating on around 3 hours of broken sleep, per night , for the last 3 WEEKS!! We are utterly, physically, mentally and emotionally drained. Can you imagine what we are going through? We fall asleep right after our LO does, at around 7/7:30. Awaken at 9/9:30 to endure a tantrum that could last hours. When she finally goes back down, it could take us nearly an hour to fall back to sleep, only to be awoken AGAIN!!! at 12/1am. Same deal. After nearly an hour of dealing with tantrum #2 for that night, we can drift off to sleep for a blissful hour or so before the alarm wakes us.WTH?! Is this normal for a 2.5 year old? I don’t know how long I can keep this up. I’m so tired of being SO SO tired throughout the day. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2sNfhvL
