A Cheap Thoughtless Indoor Game for Hyper Children and Parents

I have an obnoxious high octane on wheels youngster, and we 'invented' a version of a game everyone has played at some point or another. Wanted to share this destresser for other parents out there. [Do you have something to add? Post it in the comments!]Given I'm a quiet bookworm and my 5 year old is a loud runner, we don't always get along. This is the middle ground for us because it doesn't require thought or patience, but gets us both up, moving, and interacting in a positive way. She wants to play this 4 times a day, and even a few minutes at a time adds a positive feeling to the day.Get a pack of balloons like this.Get some rolled up tough brown paper (packing material, or what comes inside of wrapping paper tubes- but actual rolled paper is best for destructive wild swinging children) and make or get a tube.Blow up the balloon without helium, tie it, give each player a paper tube, and now take turns smacking the balloon with abandon back and forth to each person. If you have multiple children use two balloons or shorter tubes for the chaos. We have a lot of handmade Native American crafts hung on the wall, and the balloons have hit them many times, but none have fallen yet. :)Hope this helps someone, good luck with your wild child! via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2BPk8g9
