Is there a potty training book or guide that isn't written by crazy people?

Everything is either "Chinese children are potty trained at six months. If your 3-year-old isn't it's only because you've been brainwashed by Global Capitalism" or "your kid will be potty trained when he wants, doing anything at all will probably cause UTIs and probably ruin your relationship completely."Is there anything in between?
