My fiancé has had joint custody of his 7yo daughter for about 10 months which includes her sleeping at our place every other weekend. She’d always been fine sleeping through the night until about 2 months ago. Now she’s waking up at least 5 times a night, knocking on our door saying she can’t sleep. I think I know at least a few reasons why, but have no idea what to do about it.She sleeps in her moms bed almost every night, this has been confirmed though text messages between them and she even refers to her moms room as “our room”Her mom lets her stay up until or past midnight on weekends. We have her in bed by 10 to try and establish some routineShe watches adult shows with her mom that she might be replaying in her head at night. Some of her favorites are Criminal Minds, Charmed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural.There are probably other reasons. We’ve tried talking to the little one about it but she just says she gets to sleep with her mom and wants to sleep with us, but of course that’s not happening. If we try to talk to her mom about it she’ll likely get defensive and start making claims against us to her lawyer (this happens every time we try to address any concern with her). So we don’t know what to do. Every parenting article is for full time parents, so even if we try what they suggest, her mom won’t be following the same routine so it feels futile.Help!
