Anyone doing an annual multi-part gift for their child that "completes" over many years?

Not sure how best to phrase this but examples I've seen are buying one good quality tool each year so that by age 18 your kid has a full set to move out on their own with. Or adding one charm to a charm bracelet or one pearl to a necklace each year to build a full jewelry piece. Looking for ideas for a son age 1 and a daughter due next spring! I'd love to start a minor collection that they may actually find value/use in some day vs burdening them with something like china that they wouldn't pick themselves. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2SkC4ah
