School nurse procedure - weird or no?

Ok bg - 5 year old, female. 3 weeks into KG. Never really been sick. Never had issues like this.Story - trying to keep it short.Nurse calls me at 1:30 (really it’s 1:35 by my phone) to report my daughter needs picked up now. Diarrhea dripping down legs. I arrive at 1:45. Sign in, go to nurse office.“She’s in the bathroom. She’s got diarrhea. I tried to clean her legs up.”Daughter comes into view, about 1 minute or so, teary faced. Tells me she pooped her pants and am I mad? (No, course not babes. What’s the matter? Belly upset?) ... she pulls out her waistband to show me. Okay, yes. She’s got diarrhea. She’s got a pool of it in her underpants.I ask for her backpack. I’ve got diaper wipes, antibacterial wipes and spare clothes in there. Not available. Nurse has been asking for it since she called me.Nurse calls teachers room for backpack again. Walks me to the office to wait for backpack.Nurse “when are you having her evaluated for speech?”Me “uh... we did on the 11. I have a meeting with X and Y on Monday.”Nurse “oh, ok. Can you provide school with that report cause I couldn’t understand her and she doesn’t look like ... well, you know.. but I couldn’t figure out what was going on or understanding her.”... waiting for backpack... while my kid is standing in her diarrhea filled underwear... it’s been like 7-8 minutes now... she’s prattling in about my kids speech. We walk back to nurse station. After about another 1-2 minutes, finally backpack shows up.I ask nurse “can I use the bathroom to clean her up and change her?”Nurse “oh, just take her home. I gave her a bag to sit on for ride the home.”Me “but I have spare clothes. I need to clean her up.”Nurse “well, I’d have to call custodian and then no one would be able to use the bathroom until they’re here.”....Look. I get it. It’s diarrhea. Who knows what she got? She had Johnny Appleseed day today with apples and stuff from other people’s parents. Class had cupcakes for someone’s birthday, and immediately after cupcake she shit herself.Regardless, I enter the ladies room on the way out and clean her up (best I can) and change her clothes. I use the bag to put in the dirty clothes, wipes, etc. I wipe down the stall.I call husband (he’s at home) at 2:01, letting him know we’re headed home finally. She gets a shower at home, shit is caked on her thighs and butt. Underwear gets tossed.I’m mad. Do I have a right to be? I honestly don’t know. I’m mad about the speech thing the nurse mentioned, I’m mad about not being able to change her and clean her, I’m mad that this woman nurse told me to let my girl child sit in shit for a car ride. She poops in 3 more pairs of undies at home during 2 hours. Blood appears, I take her to docs. No fever, nothing unusual. Probably the runs. But still, weird for us.Should I be upset how this was handled??she was told to stand in bathroom until I picked her up. (Lucky I live close)I was told not to change / clean her up.I was told to let her sit in it on a car ride home.I waited for at least 7-8 minutes for backpack to show up.the nurses comment about “she doesn’t look .. well ‘you know’...”Idk. My mom friends in other states have had the exact opposite experiences with this. Nurse cleaned them up, put them in clean clothes for instances “such as this”.I’m mad. But is this normal? I had bad experiences in school with nurses myself (I had 2 broken arm bones and sat over an hour by myself once). I just feel like this was grossly mishandled. My kids fine. Whatever went through her system went through. She’s never ever had an accident and hasn’t even vomited yet ever. But to see her standing with a pool of shit in her underwear was concerning. Is this normal procedure??Thanks. I’m sorry, I’m on mobile and still a bit pissy about the way this was handled on Thursday. Thanks for any advice!!Edit : long edit, sorry.I was and am expecting new school bugs and sicknesses to be introduced to my kiddo.I did ask my kid about whether she asked teacher about using the loo. Kid told me she was trying to hold it until she got home. And then she couldn’t hold it anymore. We had a talking about if you have to poop, pooping at school is fine! And ok! If you gotta poop, well, you should go poop.We also talked about pooping ourselves. Her dad had an accident about 1.5 years ago in which ONLY she was present (and was able to call 911 for him) and he did same thing. We did NOT make her feel bad about it. Sometimes it happens. She got loads of spoils and fun times were had even though she was sad to miss school.Yes, it was diarrhea. So, she stayed home from school on Friday. She was back to normal stools by 5pm Thursday evening (3.5 hours after incident). She has seen a doc, as it had progressed and blood became present. She’s fine though! And I DO have a meeting with school on Monday with the school speech specialist and her teacher in regards to her speech. We start private speech therapy on Wednesday, actually. But I want the school also involved, since her test score was so low. She has a phonological processing disorder. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2o3X5w3
