Drug Addicted Parent

Today, my stepdaughter (10 yrs) had a play date with a school friend. And we've come to find out her friend is a foster kid. Dad is absent and mom is a drug addict. And this is coming directly from the kid. This is heavy shit to process, holy cow. I feel for the kid, and what a heavy burden for her to carry. I always assume that kids with these kind of childhood have a rough road ahead of them... it's just too much for a kid to deal with... I don't even know where I'm going with this. I'm guessing my role is to just focus more on trying to raise my kids best I can. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2Onr6kX
