A hack that I’ve found really useful in keeping my house cleaner, me and Dad saner, and kiddo more responsible

Our kiddo is 3.5 and like all preschoolers, she gets out a bazillion toys and leaves them everywhere. Of course we want her to put her toys away when she’s done playing with them, but it’s not always realistic. So, we have a “blue box” in our living room for her toys. (like this: https://ift.tt/2ydlAZx) Whenever I’m cleaning and just want stuff put away, anything that’s her responsibility to put away goes in this box.Instead of sorting where all her stuff goes while she's napping or when she’s over at birth mothers house, or instead putting a bunch of toys by her door, everything goes in this blue box. Then, when we're all cleaning together, or if she's in trouble, her job is to put everything in her blue box away. Sometimes when toys are too big to go in the box, that’s when it’s time to clean it out and put all toys away. We also have a somewhat enforced rule of "If you take something out of the blue box to play with, you have to put two things away" if that's intriguing to anyone. No, it doesn't teach her to put her stuff away immediately, but it's great for keeping our house somewhat clutter free and makes her have to eventually put it away.Maybe everyone is already doing this and I’m last to the party, but if it helps even one person, then my work here is done.TLDR: instead of leaving your house a mess or putting your kid’s stuff away for them, have a designated space for their toys to live until your kiddo can put them away themselves. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2MtS7mz
