Big Road Trip w/ 10 yo daughter

My wife, 10 yo daughter, and I are taking a massive road trip from Alabama in mid June. We're stopping in New York City and upstate New York to see family, and from there, we're going to cross into Quebec and visit Montreal and Quebec City. However, from there, I'm trying to decide if it's worth the extra drive to visit portions of the Gaspe Peninsula, if we'd be better off dropping down to Maine and visiting a national park in the states, or just backtracking and going back the way we came. We have roughly a bit more than 2.5 weeks of total time for travel.Mostly, I'm curious about my daughter. She's done drives from Alabama to NYC (two days, about 19 hours total) and upstate NY, and she generally travels exceptionally well. That said, this trip would be a massive increase in travel time. It's an amazingly beautiful drive w/ lots of national/provincial parks, but that may have a certain shelf-life w/ a kiddo her age.I'm of the mind that if we go up to the Peninsula, we'll need to do drives no longer than 4 hours a day, w/ off days built in for exploring and relaxing. That said, we'd then be faced w/ 3-4 days of getting back to Birmingham, though we could furlough for a day or two in NYC.Has anyone done traveling like this week w/ a tween kid? If so, how did you feel about the experience? Suggestions? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2nTyTdX
