How do I motivate my 8 year old girl? When anything seems difficult to her (piano, Spanish homework, school projects), she just gives up and throws a huge temper tantrum.

She expects me to do it all for her and when I try, instead, to guide her/give her hints, then all hell breaks loose. She’ll kick the piano or throw her homework, or scream and hit me. It’s completely maddening. I end up screaming back at her and then telling her “let’s just do it later when you’re calm”, but then she just keeps at it. Why won’t she just TRY on her own?
