Food vs 5 yr old

My 5 yr old son pretty much eats the same few things for the last year or so (grilled cheese, toast, nuggets, frozen waffles, granola bars, sausage, apples, yogurt, snacks). He used to eat anything we gave him and just slowly dropped food choices over the years. My 3yr is now getting picky too so we are finally putting our foot down. We spent months telling them about how we are gonna eat better, try more new things, encourage them to pick out foods, help cooking, etc etc. Still they haven’t changed so now we are going cold turkey. We’ve been giving them good breakfast we know they’ll eat then offering other things for other meals. The last few days they’ve been skipping lots of meals and going to bed without dinner for refusing to eat pretty simple things like oranges, chicken, rice, veggies. We had a showdown with my 5yr old last night, chicken nuggets was a staple for him but he got used to only one brand. We made delicious homemade nuggets, he refused to eat, crying and sat at the table for two hours with a piece of chicken in his mouth refusing to swallow. We told him he has to finish it the next day if he wants something else.Has anyone been thru this and actually made it out the other side? Everyone says they’ll eventually eat it but I’m not too sure. I feel so guilty and trying to stay strong. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2CJb3b4
