2.5 year old highly motivated by cake...abnormally so?

We don't have it often, really only at birthdays. When it's around he will do anything, say anything and eat anything to get it. Then once he has it it's like nobody else in the world ever existed. He savors it. He talks to it like an old friend. He giggles. Is this normal or should I go ahead and google it?
