I found my son wearing girl's clothes

Last night I was folding the laundry and I took my 15-year-old son's clothes to his room and I walked in on him in a pink girl's shirt and girly looking socks. I left and didn't speak to him about it because I didn't know what to say and I didn't want to embarrass him further.I talked to my husband about it and he said our son might be a transgender. He grew his hair long and wore girl's clothes so he think's that's a sign of him being a transgender. He wants to talk about it with our son tonight. Our son avoided us this morning and he's at school right now.
