Parent as confidant.. or not...

So recently my 4 year old daughter has been asking me for things "but don't tell mummy". If I was inclined to say yes, then I have been responding "yes but we don't have secrets in our family"I was discussing this with a friend and her response was that she was ok with keeping minor secrets as that was a way of building trust with her child. I thought that was an interesting (and valid) point of view.Just wondering how other people handle this? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2xJSkqO
