So unbelievably sick of toddler screen/button obsession and tantrums

Long post alert... I don’t expect anyone except those that can commiserate to read this novel...My daughter never had this, but my son FREAKS OUT for electronics of all kinds (my phone, iPad, computers, mice, keyboards, car keys with buttons, remotes, etc)He has toys with buttons. Usually not interested. We’ve given him dead key fobs and remotes. Not good enough. He wants the one that turns the TV off and on. He wants the keys that set off the panic alarm. For that matter he has tantrums because he wants to DRIVE the car.He DOES get time with these things (keys/remotes/iPhones/iPads) and we don’t strictly limit screen time, though he doesn’t get a lot of it. The absolute worst part of letting him play with any one of these things is the moment you have to take it away. And yes, we do time warnings (10 mins, 5 mins, 2 mins, 1 min, after the count of 10, etc). We are as gentle as we can be and try to explain why he can’t have something he wants (mommy needs the keys to drive the car). Distraction and redirection works 30-40 percent of the time. 10 percent of the time he hands it over like a little angel (yes, we praise that heavily). Not necessarily looking for advice, he’s 2 so he’s join going to tantrum about something. Why not this?JOIN ME IN THE ETERNAL FACEPALM OF MOTHERING A 2 YEAR OLD! via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2UTl0h6
