Studies on impact of divorce/death/long-absence of a parent?

So I've searched around and it seems that the death of a parent is easier to recover from than some divorces. I wasn't able to find information on other forms of parental loss. Like, having to go away for a while due to illness. Or losing a parent to suicide. Also, if the divorce is already proceeding and there's already been a separation, is death of a parent still "better", since a lot of the negatives of divorce are already in place?Any links/studies/articles would be greatly appreciated. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2mwAdPP
