My son's first hands-on welding lesson!

My son has helped me with a few other projects lately using my spare hold-up mask, I figured six was old enough to get his first spark burns! We mocked up a little stick dude out of some spare bolts laying around the shop and set to work.I did the first few tacks to show him, then guided the gun while he controlled the trigger and did a few more tacks. In the end, I had him run the last few beads himself with my hand as a guide (since I had on the big gloves), and it came out pretty neat!Great fun and hopefully a skill we can keep working on for a long time. I don't know of too many six year olds who can wield a MIG gun!http://ift.tt/2oLP7mu thought I would share. This subreddit needs more happy posts. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2q79Vc8
