Looking for advice for childproofing cabinet

I am at my wit's end trying to childproof a cabinet that was built back in the late 60s. It's underneath a split oven which prevents us from using standard locks inside because the top is metal. The handles are 14 inches apart which is too far for a baby proof lock across them. We've considered a small bungee cord but are afraid it may snap and hit the toddler when he tries to go looking for snacks. Suggestions? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2wK5lWG
