RANT: All the extra special stuff at school that equates to Homework for Mothers.

Literally my son has special events that I have to prepare/do something for yesterday, this Friday, next Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (about 4 different things to remember!) and Friday. All of this is bullshit extra homework for mothers - tie dye a shirt. Sure because I have that shit sitting around. Bring in pictures of child. Arrange a snack for the whole class because he's Star of the Week. Wear [special thing] Day. Olympics Day - change the time of dropoff/pickup and lunch arrangements. On and on and on and on. Literally they made up a pretend "holiday" for every single day in May, with most of them representing Homework for Moms to bring in whatever.(Before in come the predictable comments of "your 6 year old should do this all for himself because mine even do their own taxes," a good deal of this is stuff he cannot do on his own like printing photos or freaking tie dying, things he doesn't yet have the reading skill on the calendar to understand, things that have to be bought, etc.).Sure, sure they don't say it's specifically for Moms and hearing about all you Dads who are the ones in your family who take care of this is great. But in my family, it's me or not happening. And if something doesn't get done, the school sure as shit doesn't send an email to or call my husband about it. It's always "Tell your mom...." Meanwhile I'm only trying to you know work full time, be the family breadwinner, take care of the inside and outside maintenance of the house, have a life, etc. so of course a part time job of coordinating the Elementary School Social Club of Daily Fun Special Extra Activities fits easily into my day.End rant. (And yes we do pick and choose and not to "everything").Edited to add: Oops, apparently today was Beach Day and we forgot to have our beach towels cleaned and organized after the long weekend to send one in today. So in fact, 1 or more "special things" every day this week, and most of next week too. Is this normal for public school????? (I went to Catholic school it was not like this.) via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/30PENxo
