My partner and I have a hard time deciding how to handle food with our 20 month old...

Well, this likely won't reach a consensus, because based on my previous research there just is no right answer. But basically our dilemma is this:Our 20 month old often only eats one of the ingredients we offer. He'll keep asking for more pasta or beans or fish or whatever he likes that night, while not even trying the cucumber or potatoes or chicken. He has a few favorite ingredients but it seems completely random what he's eating today. We'd like him to at least try a bit of everything before getting seconds of his favorite ingredient. He's hardly verbal yet though, so he doesn't completely understand what we want from him. We're struggling to find out how to handle this though. One of us prefers to not give any more until the other foods have been tried (which has been a fight the 2 times we tried), the other prefers to just let it go and make sure he has a balanced diet over the week.Obviously we'll have to be consistent with whatever method we pick, but we struggle picking the method that will give us the results we hope for.Our long term goals:a healthy kida teenager/adult with a healthy relationship with fooda kid that enjoys trying new foodsAnd as a secondary:not to much of a fight at dinner timeminimal food wasteAny advice would be great! via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2XcBcHo
