Last night we showed our 5 year old the 2008 version of Hairspray as a way to explain to her more about race and how mommy and daddy wouldn’t have been allowed to be together 50 years ago and what was and is happening in the world. She really enjoyed the musical, much more than I thought she would. We’re a pro-Disney household so we have all the soundtracks on repeat.I think she’s starting to show more interest is non animation but the music draws her in.I’d love some suggestions! We’ve be in New York in a few weeks but I don’t plan to take her to any shows, it’s not appropriate to have an antsy kid in a theatre where people $100s of dollars to enjoy.Disclaimer: it’s ok if it’s not super kid friendly. I might show her Mamma Mia because it’s life changing via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2uF1F48
