Daughter (3) keeping secrets

For a couples of months now our daughter, when asked about something, will something's exclaim "Nothing!" and not want to discuss the issue further. For example, she mentioned a dream about snakes to me one day, and when I asked what the snakes were doing she said "Nothing! nevermind!". She's also done it when asked about her day, what she ate for lunch, or what arts and crafts she's done that day. Im not assuming anything insidious is going on, I'm thinking maybe she did something we wouldn't approve of at preschool or didn't eat her lunch and wants to hide that from us. Or maybe with the dream, recalling it makes her uncomfortable if the snake was biting her or something. But she's also been getting a lot of bruises preschool and she doesn't want to tell us what happened. Again, I believe these are just bruises from playing and not anyone hurting her, but there is always that worry! She has been at preschool for only 2 weeks now. The "secret keeping" has been happening longer.I'm looking for insight into if this is normal for kids around her age and if anyone has any recommendations for books that would encourage her that she can tell her parents anything. We haven't had too much luck telling her this ourselves. Thank you! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2v4SsBH
