The daily food battle

My daughter (8 years old) has always eaten seemingly less than average (she’s small, so not so little that it’s an unhealthy diet). I’ve always had to encourage her to eat. Now we are at a point where she will acknowledge she’s hungry at times and refuse to eat. If we are excited, upset, sad, stressed, or any other intense emotion she will go a day or longer without food (she will take breakfast to school and throw it away, not eat lunch, etc). It’s not a matter of not liking it — today she had her favorite food for lunch and it took 5 hours to get her to eat it.I’m worried that as she get older she will have stronger emotions and be less inclined to eat. Has anyone else had a child who was just generally disinclined to eat? Did it ever get better? Any ideas on making this easier for her? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2vbfoPR
