Flat heads, sleep positioners, and tube socks.

So my 10 week old daughter has started developing a flat spot on her skull from preferring to sleep on the same side of her head every night. Babies developing flat spots has become common every since we started putting babies to sleep on their backs instead of tummies. We had been trying to position her correctly so that she's not sleeping on the flat spot, but we know that sleep positioners are generally frowned upon because babies can suffocate on them. When we finally got in to see the baby physical therapist, her instructions were to build our own sleep positioners... from tube socks and rice. I'm not kidding. Here's why they recommend that, and it blew my mind: you can breathe through a tube sock stuffed with rice. I've tested it a dozen times now, because it still surprises me.Anyway, baby is now happily cradled between two giant rice-filled socks when she sleeps, and she sleeps (mostly) on her side, now. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2JRqAWR
