Son was made fun of for still being in a diaper

We’re out of state on vacation, visiting my parents and family. Took the kiddos to an indoor trampoline park.My son is four and has autism. He’s nonverbal and not yet potty trained. While at the park he soiled his diaper and some older kids (maybe 10 or 11 years old) started making fun of him. They kept saying “ew” and “go away” because he smelled bad, but all he wanted to do was follow them and do what they were doing. We tended to the diaper of course but someone must’ve said something because while my husband was in the bathroom with him, an employee came up to me and said he needed to be changed. Like.....yes, thanks. I’m aware. It’s been addressed.I know autism isn’t one of those visible conditions, so I can’t necessarily be mad at anyone. It’s just upsetting. It was one of those times that I was actually incredibly grateful for his condition. He was oblivious to what the boys were saying. He was simply enjoying the trampolines and in his own world. As a parent though, it’s difficult to see or hear others talking about your child like that. It was the first time that’s really happened to us.I’m just feeling kinda down about it and needed to vent. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2tRYe9N
