So, as a father, there was a time of one year straight that my now 2 year old only wanted her mom to take her to bed. No matter what I did she would scream and cry if I was even in the same area when she was laid down. Finally I was able to break into the night time routine a few months ago and I’ve taken every moment I can to put her to bed. She usually sleeps like an angel and always has but if she wakes up at night it can be a real nightmare.Well, I just did the impossible. Something my wife , the queen of sleep time, hasn’t been able to do. It might not seem like a big deal but it is to me. She woke up at five screaming bloody murder which is actually unusual. So I went in expecting to see a war zone . She must have had a nightmare because she was clawing to get into my arms . I picked her up and hugged her and told her it is all ok but it’s still night time outside. I showed her that it was still dark. I then told her she still has to go to bed.She didn’t say anything to acknowledge what I just told her but i still laid her down anyway and rubbed her cheek . Surprisingly she nodded and went mm hmm. So I left the room and it’s been silence. It took only 1 minute but she went back to sleep with no more crying or fear. I feel like a million dollars. I might not be able to sleep my self now.Edit: Spelling via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2LjuGNi
