I'm expecting my first in about 3 weeks, assuming he makes his appearance around his due date. My cousin had a boy last year and has been a great source of hand-me-down clothing and newborn baby items. But sometimes she gives advice as though her experiences are 100% what my experiences are going to be and it can get overwhelming.Recently she asked me why I was setting up the crib so early since I won't be using it until he's 6 months old. I was kind of like "um... where else is he going to sleep? Not in my bed, surely." And she said I should put him in a bassinet first because there was "no way" he will sleep in a big empty crib. Her reasoning is because he has spent his existence until birth in a small enclosed space and won't feel safe in something as big as a crib for a while. There's a certain logic to that, but I'm still not sure so I'm turning to other parents.Did anyone have trouble getting new babies to sleep in a crib right away? Should I get a bassinet to start with and then size up to a crib? For the record, the crib is in my bedroom because of our limited space in our living situation, so he will be right there and easily accessible for me. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2JKSDr5
