Can I get some props for me - or my toddler? - one of us is CLEARLY amazing (proud/humblebrag)

My son is 2 years, 10 months. I have him full time, SAHM.In February I was signing up for a community workspace membership and went, "Welp, we're just gonna have to teach you to be good at entertaining yourself while I laser engrave kiddo." And after a few visits, he adapted to the place, and it's wonderful.Over the last few months I've been working on more toddler independence for him in a variety of ways, and I've really found that if I give him opportunities, he has a chance to live/work up to them.So today, we went to an organic apple orchard where I'd picked apples years ago. I wanted to try picking apples with him - because it's rare to be able to work WITH your kid in tow, and because I wanted to see if it would work for us two. I had no idea how it was going to go. Would he get bored after 10 minutes? Would he run off?No and no! I picked apples for THREE HOURS and kiddo was great until the very end (which would have been nap time, had he not stopped napping two weeks ago). I am so proud that I risked the embarrassment/disappointment of failure and gave it a try! He was plenty entertained with what I brought for him. He mostly climbed up the back of my ladder, and insisted he wanted to pick apples as well. He was bummed I wouldn't sit to read books with him on the blanket.I just feel like I have the best toddler ever, and I feel so lucky that I got to have that experience with him. And I feel like it's so great that he had three hours to practice being with himself, but in a fantastic location, and with me right there whenever he needed mom again. Tomorrow kiddo said he'd like to go back again (: via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/35HRpsO
