Our son spiked a fever of 104 and had a cough that started a few days ago. I called our pediatrician's weekend phone line, and the doctor told me to just monitor and wait. After I hung up the phone, I made an appointment for urgent care. Turns out he has pneumonia, so I'm really glad we decided to not monitor and wait. This isn't a psa on not listening to your doctor's btw. I always listen to my doctor. However, I think it's important to get a second opinion, especially if a diagnosis is simply done over the phone. I've never been so glad to be an overly cautious parent before.
