My kiddo (almost 9) goes to a summer day camp and they had an open house / parent night last Friday. My son showed me all the stuff that he gets to do, but his absolute favorite thing there is the gaga pit. The game involves slapping a ball around and trying to hit other kids below the knees in order to get them out. You're not allowed to kick or pick up the ball. So, there's a bunch of kids who want to play, but another parent that was there had her 3-year old in the pit, who constantly kicked and picked up the ball. The older kids were getting frustrated because it completely altered the flow of the game. The little kid was getting frustrated because the ball was getting smacked away from him at every opportunity. The mom insisted that the older kids "play nice" because "he's only 3".The kids started to bend and break the rules, since it wasn't a "real game" anyway, and everyone was slowly getting more and more frustrated. We left early because it stopped being fun for him.I'm of the opinion that the mom of the toddler was being rude to the older kids, but I can also see the value in trying to be inclusive of all ages and ability levels. What do you think? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2Nm21EH
