What is the deal with Johnny Johnny (nursery rhyme, and others)?

So if you don't know, Johnny is caught eating straight sugar. He's asked if he's been eating sugar. He says no. He's asked if he's sure and if he's lying. He is sure and claims to not be lying. Then he has to open his mouth which Papa finds is full of sugar. At this point, they laugh it off.Who the hell came up with laughing off blatant lying? I don't get it.My kid isn't talking yet so maybe I'll get it later but until then it drives me nuts.Also, the mother of the 5 little ducks is the worst mother ever. She lets her 5 ducklings go off by themselves and when one goes missing she just let's the remaining 4 go by themselves again. It isn't until she's lost all 5 that she's even sad about it.
