What are your thoughts on telling the children "we can't afford this right now?"Mine are 6m and 7f and I have used that as an explanation of why we were unable to do something. I received some comments from family and friends saying it was inappropriate to have the children worry about money. It's not essentials, it's extra snacks or happy meals or stuff like that. I am co-parenting and we have a pretty good relationship as things go...but I make more money than their Dad so often times we (me and the children) have "treats" such as maybe having a family dinner at Chili's once a month...but I try not to spoil them and some weeks are harder than other depending upon if their Dad gives money towards the stuff such as children's lunches, snacks or buys bottled water...but I digress...Either way I feel they are an appropriate age to know reasons why instead of the "because I said no" because frankly I hate hearing that and try not to say it. I try to help them understand cause and effect and if I can give them a reason I do so. Do y'all think that causes children more stress? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/32uJygo
