It's our 11th anniversary and we are going camping without the kids! Such an exciting time as parents.Everything will work out as planned if we get to work on time and all the other pieces fall into place.Now we are running late for work because the boy (he's almost 2) knows something is up and is being quite uncooperative. Just as we step out the door my phone rings. It's the teenager and she has had a feminine disaster, I need to go to the school to save the day. Whatever. Such is the life of a parent.Every other day goes by with minimal hitches. The day we get to escape is the day things spiral out of control, first you're 20 minutes late, next thing you know you need to take an extra 20 minutes and a 15 mile detour.I'm exaggerating a little, I know.
