I am LIVID.My 15 month old developed a fever yesterday night (101.8). She’d been acting fine all day, instead of just rushing her to the hospital, I decided to giver her a dose of ibuprofen before her bath. Well, about four hours later, it went up to 102.7 so I piggyback the ibuprofen with some Tylenol and it goes down to 99.1, and I made plans to call the pediatrician in the morning to make an appointment, just in case.Well I woke up in the morning, and took her temperature again. It has spiked to 103.6!Cue panic attack.Gave her another dose of ibuprofen, went down to 98.6, and called pediatrician to make an appointment.Appointment at 10am. Cool cool. She’s acting completely fine. Playing like usual, drinking plenty of fluids. Great! I get ready for work, call her daycare to inform them that she wouldn’t be attending today, and leave her with grandma (in a short sleeved onesie, because she’s been feverish and it’s 85° in the freaking house)Everything is all fine and dandy. I’m at work, doing my thing, obviously checking on my daughter a few times because I’m a first time mother, with a medically complex child, and I worry. They say she’s doing good. Still acting fine.Wonderful!I take lunch early to attend her appointment. They run a few test (RSV, flu, strep), check her ears. All negative. Fever down to 100.1°. Just a virus. Manage fever and discomfort, you know, the usual.Awesome! Nothing too serious then. I head back to work to finish my day while receiving updates just to make sure she’s still okay. They say she’s fine. Fever went up a bit, but otherwise still fine.Cool, cool.Well, I get home at 5:20ish, and I go to greet my little love. She looks EXHAUSTED. I pick her up, and I shit you not, she is on FIRE. It seriously almost HURT to touch her that’s how hot she was.Naturally, I start freaking out. I immediately go and take her temperature. 106.4°!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?I immediately give her a dose of ibuprofen. Then I notice what she wearing.... LONG SLEEVES, SWEATPANTS, AND LONG SOCKS IN A HOUSE THAT IS 85° WITH A FREAKING FEVER. She looked like she was dressed for 50° weather!I am livid at this point. Everyone keeps telling me that she’s just tired because she’s sick.SHE IS NOT TIRED BECAUSE SHES SICK!I KNOW what sick tired looks like. I KNOW. And she literally looked like she was about to pass out! She’s BURNING UP!I strip her down to her diaper, and start walking her around, sitting in front of the fan an what not trying to cool her down.I take her temperature again, about 15 minutes later. 101.6°.She starts acting like her normal regular self 10 minutes later.I feed her dinner (she ate great, even drank most of her milk), and put her in a somewhat cooler than usual bath.I take her temperature before I give her medicine, and lay her down for the night and it’s 98.6°.MY CHILD WAS ABOUT TO HAVE A HEAT STROKE, AND NO ONE NOTICED.3 people in the house that were supposed to watching her, and keeping me updated on how she was acting DIDN’T NOTICE THAT SHE WAS ABOUT TO PASS OUT DUE TO HOW HOT SHE WAS!Granny had the audacity to nag me for only having a diapering her, because “she’s going to get a chill”ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?My daughter is now sleeping in a short sleeved onesie, comfortable as can be with a steady temperature of 98.7°.Rant over. 🙃🤨😤 via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2W49P2A
