Why are parents so afraid to talk to their children about S-E-X?

I have an 8yo daughter. We’ve always taught her the proper names for genitalia. I bought a “sex” book before she started asking questions so I would be prepared. Two years ago, we had to start reading it because some friend of hers started talking about birth control pills. I know it’s uncomfortable, especially when the kids start asking personal questions. Is this just an American phenomenon? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2FoA6kh
