I was raised in domestic violence, poverty, chaos, addiction, homelessness. We moved at least once a year and I went to 10 different schools before I graduated.I have worked like hell over the last 20 years to overcome the remnants and effects of all that shit left within me, to get to this place where I am emotionally and financially able to raise a child in a healthy and loving home, a stable home, and get us into a school district that will truly benefit him and prepare him to do well in his life.I moved out when I was 17, graduated high school with honors, finished boot camp and earned military awards, earned two bachelors degrees—one in electrical engineering, just received a fellowship at my school to pursue a PhD in electrical engineering. But nothing makes me feel happier than getting to provide the life for my son that I always wanted as a child. I feel like this is my ultimate purpose in life. Here’s to all of us who are fighting the good fight every day. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2OtJYNJ
