When I was seven my dad shoved me in the dryer and turned it on

My dad is an idiot, here’s the story: I was hanging out with my dad in the garage/workshop when I was 7–8 years old and I was sitting partially in the dryer I think because it was still warm. When I was a child I LOVED crawling into the dryer with the warm clothes, it felt so warm and so amazing, anyway my dad asked if I could fit, I smile giddily and push myself a little farther back and then he said no all the way and shroved my legs in and turned it on. It hurt the back of my neck really bad and it felt like the air was leaving the dryer. My dad was laughing for a moment then realised he fucked up bad when he heart me screaming at the top of my lungs. He stopped the dryer and made sure I was okay, which I was only in there a bit under 30 seconds and then frantically told me not to tell my mother. I told my mother and she straight up didn't believe me. It’s only now that she believes me because I’m fucking 20 and she even said that “your father would never do that” as soon as I reminded her. After I heard that cried, I kicked, I screamed, yes I admit I had a mini temper tantrum, all the anger and frustration of my dad very conviently forgetting and my mom not believing it just emptied out right then and there. I would remind my dad that he did it but he denied every time until I was an adult then he laughed and said it was funny. Please believe your children, I don’t care how much you love your partner if your child says they did something to them TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY. I was denied so much I almost thought it didn’t happen. Don’t let this happen to your kid just because you don’t think your spouse wouldn't do somethingTL;DR me and my dad were chillin as he’s working on something in the garage, he sees I’m partway in the dryer and the gears start turning in his head, he shoves me in the dryer and turns it on and laughed until he heard me screaming and he took me out begging me not to tell my mom, I did so anyway but it was no use because she didn’t believe me. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2Uix6j2
