He was coming home from after school. My husband lets him skateboard home. Near the park my son fell off the board. A nearby dog on a leash ran to him, lunged at him and bit his arm. Luckily my son was wearing a puffer coat and the bite didn’t break his skin. He does however have a bruise on his arm now from the bite. His coat got torn in three different places. My husband said it all happened so fast. The woman who owned the dog tried getting him off my son but couldn’t bc the dog was large (golden retriever large) so my husband grabbed the dog by the collar and yanked it away violently throwing it to the ground. Apparently when my husband bent down to grab our son who was shaken up this woman hauled ass and ran with her dog. Not even a godamn apology was given. My husband tried tracking her down but couldn’t. I asked him why he didn’t call the police and he says that filing a report won’t accomplish anything as they won’t bother trying to find her. I did however convince him to file a report online with the department of health so there’s a record of it somewhere...My son woke up fine this morning and said his arm didn’t bother him. Deep down I feel like we didn’t handle this right. Like we are being too passive about the incident. Then again I always doubt myself for things.
