Our 6 year old son wanted to be Pennywise for Halloween (he has seen the previews on YouTube but hasn’t watched nor will he be allowed to watch the movie anytime soon). We told him that he couldn’t because they don’t like “scary” costumes at school and church and we weren’t going to buy him multiple costumes for Halloween. His response? He said that he would pick out one of his dress up costumes from the house for school and church so we wouldn’t have to buy him two costumes. He got us there. So we looked for a Pennywise costume in his size and couldn’t find one. We told him that and he accepted it.Then he came back the next day and said he wanted to be Georgie. We thought that would be simple enough. Get him a yellow rain jacket and some boots, a paper sailboat, and maybe even a red balloon. Now he wants me to go as Pennywise. And when him and his siblings (10 year old sister going as an alien and 8 year old brother going as a baseball player) knock on doors, he just wants me to stand about 20 feet back and just stand there, creepily looking at them as they get their candy. He even wants me to cut the arm out of his jacket so he can have just one arm.Too creepy? Just don’t want to scar the kids for life. I think we are both okay with it, but are we letting them take it too far or just letting them have a little fun on Halloween? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2MNnvfk
