Parents of “indoor” kids, how do you make sure they exercise and get enough physical activity?

My kid will not even consider any organized sports, whether that’s team sports or more individual sports like tennis or golf. He’s also not very into the outdoors, and complains a lot about being “forced” to go on family hikes or bike rides. My spouse and I are pretty active, outdoorsy people and we are at a loss for how to help him get any kind of exercise at all. He’s at a healthy weight right now, but there is some obesity and associated health issues on both sides of the family and we have been trying to model an active lifestyle for years. When he was younger we signed him up for swimming and baseball, and did a kids’ gladiator/obstacle course camp a couple times. Now he’s 10 and aside from his robotics program, he pretty much just wants to sit inside and play video games or read or watch tv. We’re not at a point where screen time is sucking up his entire life, but it seems that everything he does want to do is completely sedentary. I worry that he’s forming some unhealthy long-term habits as far as complete lack of physical activity. Any thoughts? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2EIRIrZ
