My wife takes our preschool-aged kids to school/daycare in the morning on her way to work. She recently told me that she occasionally, once or twice a week, will stop at the gas station/convenience store to get herself a drink, biscuit, etc and leave the kids in the car with the car locked and take the key with her. I would assume that this would take roughly a minute, no more than 2 minutes tops. I knew she stopped there occasionally, but did not know she left the kids in the car. To get the kids out of their seats, into the store, and back in would obviously be a lot more effort, and I'm sympathetic to that aspect. However, I still think it's a terrible idea and asking for trouble.FWIW, in our state it is not illegal to do this unless the conditions present a risk to the child, the engine is running, or the keys are inside the vehicle. What say you, redditors? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2NFtz8I
