Hi!My son is 17 months going on 13 years old. My in laws recently taught him to play ‘hit grandpa’ as a funny way to say hello. My son thought it was so funny that he’s now hitting the dog, me, anyone! He’s even figured out that if we tell him no or to stop, he just hits harder.We’ve talked to the grandparents about never doing it again, but we’re not sure how to stop my son from continuing to hit. We’ve done time outs in our laps where we hold him for 30 seconds to a minute. We’ve also been recommended to hit his hand back gently, so he equates hitting as pain, but my husband and I don’t believe gently spanking my son’s hand is going to teach him to stop hitting. Seems kind of hypocritical.Any advice? Parents who have dealt with the hitting or biting?
