I’m a father of a three-year-old girl and an eight-month-old boy. I’m a nurse practitioner and I work 12 hour shifts 3 to 4 days a week. My wife is a teacher and works 8 to 4 Monday through Friday. When I work I don’t see my kids much because they are up after I leave and are getting ready for bed when I get home. My wife shoulders the parenting duties in days I work and I make up for it and help when I’m off. I thought having a second child wouldn’t be much change. I was wrong! The 3 year old is very strong willed and recently learned she can run away from us when she doesn’t get what she wants. The 8 month old is easy going so far. I think what I have the most difficultly with is devoting enough attention to my kids as individuals, my marriage and my wife, work and other professional obligations. Not to mention attending to my own identity and friend group. With this post I’m not sure if I’m looking for advice, congratulations, or just want to vent. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2pvK8IE
