Nurse doesn’t understand how things have changed and dad’s are more involved than they used to be.

I can’t find an excuse for people that don’t understand that Dads understand kids just as much as moms do for the most part. Don’t tell me “this is typical for her age,” or “you should expect that,” when I know damn well you wouldn’t be saying this if it were her mom taking her to get shots. Why do I take them to get shots and not their mother? Because I’m the at home parent and I’m better at dealing with them when they are having a bad day.The nurse we usually have knows that I’m the at home parent and the primary caretaker so we don’t get this. I just hate being talked to like I have no clue how to deal with my toddlers. I’m polite and I don’t say anything like “I already know this because my wife and I both can read and do everything we can to learn about parenting,” but some people just can’t be helped. This isn’t just me being a stay at home parent either. I have a ton of dad friends who know everything about child behavior and are more involved than previous generations. My dad, who is 63, was the one who did most of the parenting, while balancing a military career and deployments, so it’s just really disrespectful to assume we don’t know what we are doing. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2OQJFw1
