My son and I had had a fun day but then I went into cleaning mode. 4 year old son was not happy with the quick shift in attitude and I started explaining to him that it's mommy's job to make sure the house is clean so I can keep him healthy and safe. He was just diagnosed with a cat allergy so I'm keeping the dander at bay best I can (one cat at home). I asked him "and whats your job?". I was trying to lead into a discussion about his role in helping me keep the house clean. His reply was "my job is to make you play with me". Kind of stumped me bc darned if he's not right. So I got out of hyper-efficiency mode and made up a game to make picking up more fun. So it didnt get done as quickly, but we did bond more over it.
